Chevy VOLT ad from the New York Times, Tuesday, July 13, 2010

The above ad appeared in the New York Times on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 as a means of introducing metro NY consumers to the Chevy VOLT.  As we’ve written about previously on this site, the VOLT will shatter consumers’ expectations on what their car can do.

The VOLT takes the best attributes of an Electric Vehicle, like using no gasoline for most daily driving, and combines it with the freedom of a conventional gas powered car that allows its owners to drive cross country on a whim.

The VOLT uses a powerful T shaped lithium-ion battery to store enough electrical power to drive the VOLT for about 40 miles between charges.  Owners will be able to charge-up overnight, in about 4 to 8 hours, simply by plugging into a standard household 110V outlet.  But if you need to drive further than 40 miles, and don’t want to stop and plug-in (like a pure electric vehicle would require), the VOLT has a small gas powered generator that will run and produce electricity to power the car for over 300 miles on a single tank of gas.

For most drivers, the VOLT means a weekly trip to the gas station could be a distant memory!  The dialy commute is about to get easier and much quieter!  As the following VOLT TV commercial shows, the sound of a VOLT driving is quite different…
